Pool, waterslide, hot tub: the after-trail routine

A heated indoor pool with a waterslide, a hot tub beside it and a modest gym. Open 9 am to 11 pm and included for everyone staying at the resort, year-round.

The resort lists its pool as heated and indoor, with an exciting waterslide and a relaxing hot tub, and says all resort guests get complimentary year-round access. Hours are 9 am to 11 pm. That window matters: on a long June day you can be back from Rawson Lake, 65 km away, with time for a swim before the doors close.

My after-hike order of things

  1. Stretch first. The gym's yoga mats are listed for a reason; ten minutes on the floor saves tomorrow's calves.
  2. Shower, then hot tub. Hot water on cold, stiff legs is the point of the whole visit.
  3. Pool laps, gently. Not training. Moving.
  4. Waterslide, if the kids insist. Or if nobody is looking.
  5. Dinner before nine. The Ridge stops serving at 9 pm; Sidelines serves food until 11 pm Sunday to Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Children at the pool

The house rules say children aged 12 and under must be supervised at all times by a parent, guardian or chaperone, and should not roam the property alone. I found no separate published pool age rule beyond that; ask at the front desk if you are planning to send older kids down on their own.

No spa, and what to do instead

The resort publishes no spa, massage room or treatment menu. If a massage is part of your recovery plan, Canmore is 33 km away by my calc and has the closest choice of town services. I have not reviewed any of them, so I am not naming one. For the room itself, every room page lists a soaker tub, and the Jetted Tub Suite has a two-person jetted tub.

Check before you count on it

The resort's homepage mentions renovations in designated areas. Nothing says the pool is affected, but if the pool is the reason you are booking, put that in the request and the desk will confirm it is open on your dates. The hotel's description is on its hotel page.

Ask our desk to find you a room

Dates, people, room type: the desk checks the hotel's availability and rate, or a booking partner's, and answers by email.

  • No card asked for. A request is not a booking.
  • Reply by email, usually with the hotel's own rate and any better partner rate.
  • If a stay is confirmed, the hotel or booking partner pays us a commission. You pay us nothing. How that works.

Not the hotel's booking line: the resort's own site is stoneynakodaresort.com.

We answer in English, by email.

Thank you. The desk has your request and will reply by email. Nothing is booked yet.
