The Ridge, Sidelines, and a coffee counter by the pumps

Two places to eat inside the resort, a Tim Hortons at the travel centre outside, and Canmore half an hour away. For a trail day, plan breakfast and dinner around the hours below.

The resort describes two dining options. The Ridge is the family restaurant, decorated with local artwork. Sidelines is the sports lounge inside the casino area. The menus I quote were last updated by the hotel on 12 and 20 October 2026. Prices change, so I leave them out.

A trail-day catch: The Ridge opens at 8 am. If you want to be at Barrier Dam for first light in summer, buy breakfast the night before or use the travel centre.

The Ridge: what is on the menu

The breakfast side leans on house-made bannock, which runs through this menu: bannock French toast with apple butter and maple syrup, and a Kananaskis Benny with poached eggs and shaved ham on toasted bannock. There is a bison Benny, a Lumberjack plate for the long-day crowd, a Saskatoon berry porridge and a house granola parfait.

Lunch and dinner run from flatbreads and wings to mains such as herb-crusted salmon, an Alberta striploin, red wine braised brisket and a pork Milanese, plus a prairie bison burger and a Stoney smash burger. Pizzas are ten-inch and a gluten-free crust is offered. The menu marks gluten, dairy, egg and seafood with letter codes, which helps if you are travelling with allergies.

Sidelines: the late option

Sidelines is the lounge for watching a game, with comfort food, beer and spirits. It shares the breakfast menu until 11 am and has a late-night menu. It sits inside the casino area, so it is an adults-only space; gaming areas in Alberta are 18+. The lounge is non-smoking.

Weekly fixtures

  • Wing Night, every Wednesday: the resort lists a pound of wings at a set price with a beverage purchase.
  • Seniors Day, every Tuesday, 11 am to 4 pm: guests aged 55 and over get a seniors menu with entrées at a reduced set price, per the events page.

Food for the trail

The rooms have a mini fridge and a microwave, and the house rules ban cooking appliances, so trail food means sandwiches and snacks you buy in advance. The nearest grocery choice I would rely on is in Canmore, 33 km west; the travel centre's convenience store covers the basics. Check the full menus on The Ridge menu page and the Sidelines menu page.

Group meals

For events, the resort's package lists Indigenous fare: fry bread and baked bannock, a three sisters salad of beans, corn and squash, a Stoney beef stew. All event catering is done by the resort, outside food is not allowed except celebration cakes, and events carry a 20% service charge plus 5% GST. More on meetings and weddings.

Ask our desk to find you a room

Dates, people, room type: the desk checks the hotel's availability and rate, or a booking partner's, and answers by email.

  • No card asked for. A request is not a booking.
  • Reply by email, usually with the hotel's own rate and any better partner rate.
  • If a stay is confirmed, the hotel or booking partner pays us a commission. You pay us nothing. How that works.

Not the hotel's booking line: the resort's own site is stoneynakodaresort.com.

We answer in English, by email.

Thank you. The desk has your request and will reply by email. Nothing is booked yet.
