About this guide

Kananaskis Gateway Hotel Guide is a small independent site about one hotel and the mountains it opens onto. It started in 2026. It is not the resort's website and is not run by the Stoney Nakoda Nation.

I write the guide in the first person because one editor is responsible for it. My interest is the trail end of the trip: how far, how high, how early, and where to sleep so the first two answers are easy. The hotel is the subject because it sits at the most useful junction on the east side of Kananaskis.

How the guide was researched

  • The resort's own pages, read in full on 31 October 2026, and its Fall 2025 events package.
  • Alberta Parks trail reports and road closures; Alberta.ca for the Conservation Pass; Parks Canada for Banff fees.
  • Alberta Health Services, GameSense and AGLC for help lines and age rules.
  • Travel Alberta and named operators for things the resort does not publish itself.
  • Event organisers' ticket pages for dates.
  • My own distance checks with the OSRM router, labelled calc wherever they appear.

What this guide does not claim

No hidden reviews, no invented guests, no star rating, no photographs passed off as the hotel. The pictures are illustrations and are captioned that way. This guide is built from published sources and my own measurements, not from a hotel stay; I describe what the hotel publishes and say where it is silent. The site has existed since 2026 and has no readership figures to boast about.

Corrections

If something here is wrong or out of date, write to hello@kananaskisgatewayhotel.com. Corrections are made on the page and the check date is updated. If the hotel's own information changes, the hotel's page is the authority until I catch up: stoneynakodaresort.com.

The room desk

The form on every page goes to our room desk, which asks the hotel or a booking partner about availability and rates and replies by email. How that pays for the site is on funding and bookings.

Last checked against the linked sources: 31 October 2026.

Ask our desk to find you a room

Dates, people, room type: the desk checks the hotel's availability and rate, or a booking partner's, and answers by email.

  • No card asked for. A request is not a booking.
  • Reply by email, usually with the hotel's own rate and any better partner rate.
  • If a stay is confirmed, the hotel or booking partner pays us a commission. You pay us nothing. How that works.

Not the hotel's booking line: the resort's own site is stoneynakodaresort.com.

We answer in English, by email.

Thank you. The desk has your request and will reply by email. Nothing is booked yet.
