Home / House rules

Policies · from the resort's house rules page, May 2026

House rules, without the legal voice

The resort publishes a long page of hotel rules, part of it quoting Alberta's Innkeepers Act. Here is what each rule means for a normal stay, in the order you will run into them.

Source: the resort's house rules page, last changed by the hotel in May 2026, and its RV parking guidelines. I have shortened the wording; where money or removal is involved I keep the figure.

At the front desk

  • Bring photo ID: an ID card, passport or temporary residence card. The hotel says the law requires it.
  • A damage deposit of up to $500 CAD, by valid credit card or cash, returned after departure once the room is checked.
  • Bills are settled on presentation; personal cheques are not accepted.
  • Visitors must be registered at the front desk and may be asked for ID; you are responsible for them.
  • Check-in is 4:00 pm (events package); check-out is 11:00 am. Ask at reception to keep the room later; it depends on availability and the normal rate is charged.

In the room

  • No smoking in rooms. The fee is $500 for cleaning, and you may be removed.
  • Cannabis only in designated areas; smoking or vaping it in a room gets the same treatment as tobacco.
  • No cooking appliances of any kind, including coffee makers you bring, hot plates, toaster ovens, water heaters and rice cookers. Minimum fee $250. The hotel's fridge is the exception.
  • Your own alcohol, if you are of legal age, stays in your room, not the lobby or halls.
  • Rooms left trashed draw a $250 deep-cleaning fee, plus administration or third-party costs.
  • Electronic safes are provided; the hotel disclaims liability for losses, as the Innkeepers Act allows.

Pets

Pets are allowed in a limited number of rooms for $25 per night per pet, with a maximum of two pets in a room. A pet found in a non-designated room without management's consent brings a $250 damage and cleaning fee. Say so in your request: the desk needs to ask for a pet room specifically.

Behaviour and quiet

Quiet hours are 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. The rules list illegal activity, public intoxication, fighting, excessive noise, smoking in rooms, vandalism and abuse of guests or staff as grounds for being asked to leave. Parties that go beyond the registered number of guests or create noise are banned, and the hotel quotes the Innkeepers Act provisions on disturbance. Housekeeping and maintenance may enter rooms even when you are out.

Children

Parents, guardians or chaperones of children aged 12 and under are personally and legally responsible for them and must supervise them at all times. Do not leave them alone in the room or let them roam the property.

Bags, photos and the rest

  • Luggage storage is offered when there is space, at your own risk, for no more than 30 days.
  • No firearms or weapons may be stored on the premises; on-duty law enforcement is exempt.
  • No fireworks, open flames or grills anywhere on hotel property.
  • The rules say photos and videos taken in the hotel may not be used for commercial or public purposes. Holiday snaps are a different thing, but ask before filming staff or other guests.

RVs and trucks

Register at the front desk before parking, use the designated RV area, keep fires, barbecues and external speakers out of the lot, and take waste to a provincially approved site. The hotel page says free RV parking is for up to two nights; the RV rules say an RV parked more than 48 hours is charged $15 per night. Breaking the rules can bring a fine of up to $250 or removal. More on parking and RVs.

Ask our desk to find you a room

Dates, people, room type: the desk checks the hotel's availability and rate, or a booking partner's, and answers by email.

  • No card asked for. A request is not a booking.
  • Reply by email, usually with the hotel's own rate and any better partner rate.
  • If a stay is confirmed, the hotel or booking partner pays us a commission. You pay us nothing. How that works.

Not the hotel's booking line: the resort's own site is stoneynakodaresort.com.

We answer in English, by email.

Thank you. The desk has your request and will reply by email. Nothing is booked yet.
