Parking, RVs and the gas bar by the junction
Free parking for cars, free parking for registered RVs and trucks, and a fuel stop on the same property. For a road-trip hotel, that combination is the point.
The resort lists complimentary on-site parking for guests and free parking for trucks and recreational vehicles. Vehicles must register at the front desk, and the hotel page says registration is for up to two nights. Its events package adds that the Event Centre has a separate entrance with direct access to complimentary parking for up to 480 vehicles.
RV rules, point by point
- Register at the front desk before you park; unregistered RVs are towed at the owner's expense.
- Park only in the designated RV areas.
- No fires, barbecues or grills in the lot. No external speakers.
- Alcohol stays inside the RV.
- Stabiliser jacks go on unpaved ground only, never on the pavement.
- Keep all waste in the RV and dump it at a provincially approved site, not on resort property.
- RVs parked more than 48 hours are charged $15 per night.
- Breaking the rules can mean a fine of up to $250, removal, or a permanent ban.
The hotel page says up to two nights; the RV rules page charges $15 per night beyond 48 hours. Both are the resort's own wording, checked 31 October 2026.
Fuel, coffee and supplies
Travel Alberta lists the Bearspaw Travel Centre on site, with an Esso gas bar, a Tim Hortons and a convenience store. For anyone heading south on Highway 40, it is the obvious place to fill up before the valley. I have not found its opening hours on an official page, so do not count on it at 4 am.
Trailhead parking is a different thing
Once you leave the resort and park at a provincial park or public land site in Kananaskis Country or the Bow Valley, your vehicle needs a Kananaskis Conservation Pass: $15 for a day pass for one personal vehicle, or $90 for a year covering up to three vehicles, per Alberta.ca on 31 October 2026. You can buy it online until 11:59 pm on the first day of your visit, and in person at the Kananaskis Visitor Information Centre at Barrier Lake, 7.1 km from the resort by my calc. Driving through without stopping does not need one.
Electric vehicles
The resort does not publish EV charging, and I could not confirm it from another source. If you are driving electric, plan your charging in Calgary or Canmore and ask our desk to check with the hotel before you rely on it.
Event days
On big event dates the lot fills differently. The Kananaskis Rally on 8 November 2026 uses the resort for its headquarters, technical inspection and service park, per the Calgary Sports Car Club. If you arrive that weekend with an RV, register early. Event calendar: events and shows.
